Lisa is a devoted student of Colleena Shakti, director of Shakti School of Dance, under the lineage of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Odissi is one of 8 types of Classical Indian Dance and its roots come from the temple dance traditions in Puri, Orissa. Shakti School of Dance is located in a beautiful 400-year old Krishna temple in Pushkar, Rajasthan.
This training also includes the study of yoga asana, theory and vedic philosophy.
Dancers from all over the world come to SSD to study Odissi and train in this exquisite and extremely layered art form and devotional dance. Lisa is returning for her 4th year of training in late January of 2019.
